A GROUP OF FOUR BETTER FRENCH MODEL 1866 CHASSEPOT BAYONETS,
all brass hilted with steel blades, cross-guards and blades, one numbered 'AB 31606' on cross-guard with matching number to scabbard throat, inspection marks to quillion and ricasso, back of blade engraved for Chatellerault Arsenal and dated Mars 1874, some surface rust, and staining to blade; one numbered 'C 9894' on cross-guard with matching number to scabbard throat, inspection marks to quillion and ricasso, back of blade engraved for Chatellerault Arsenal and dated Xbre (December) 1872, some surface rust, and a little staining to blade; one numbered 'P 81854' on cross-guard with matching number to scabbard throat, inspection marks to quillion and ricasso, back of blade engraved for St Etienne Arsenal and dated April 1873, surface rust, and a little staining to blade; one with the Weyersberg of Solingen 'king' mark on ricasso, otherwise unmarked apart from numbers on cross-guard and scabbard throat (unmatched), blade clean, some surface staining to scabbard
